MCOFU provides a $5,000 term life insurance plan to active members. In addition, new hires are offered up to $100,000 of additional group term life insurance starting as low as $7.00 per pay. Coverage is also available on spouses and children. Once enrolled members and their spouses remain in the age band in which they were initially enrolled.
These coverages terminate upon retirement. To keep these policies into retirement, the employee must complete a conversion or portability form and send it to Boston Mutual within 31 days of retirement. Please reach out to MCOFU or PWB for further information when planning for your retirement.
Additional Coverage Offered
Interest Sensitive Life Plan:
Available to actively at work members. Premiums do not increase as you get older and are guaranteed to age 95. Coverage is also available on spouses and children. Policy builds cash value. Coverage is portable.

Critical Illness Insurance:
Available to actively at work members and their spouses. Children are covered for 25% of the member benefit at no cost. This coverage pays a lump sum benefit upon diagnosis of a covered illness or condition such as, but not limited to cancer, heart attack, stroke, organ transplant, Alzheimer’s disease. Pre-existing condition limitations apply. Coverage is portable. (Policy Series- WS-CI 4/12)
Accident Insurance:
Available to actively at work members on a guaranteed issue basis to offset the cost of unexpected bills related to accidents that occur every day. Coverage for spouses and children is available. Provides a 24-hour coverage benefit that pays directly to you if you or a covered family member is injured in an accident. Benefits cover initial care, injuries, hospitalization and follow-up care, transportation, and lodging. Coverage is portable. (Policy Series- WPS-ACC 07/15)
